Staffing at Worldview Bridge Year
A Worldview Bridge Year Resident Assistant is a mature Christian man or woman who has a passion for training young adults to think and live in accord with a biblical worldview. He or she is a model student who greatly values the life of the mind, reading, and all academic pursuits. He or she equally values friendships, the outdoors, and good ol’ fashioned fun (aka “joy”). The ideal Resident Assistant will often be seen, book in hand, hiking or biking a mountain trail with his or her friends.
Responsibilities
A Resident Assistant’s primary goal is to grow and facilitate a healthy, Christ-centered culture among the students. A strong, supportive culture is the essential foundation upon which students can grow and learn. We desire every student to experience a strong sense of belonging, acceptance, and a culture that views every valid activity as worship.
Mission and Vision
Everyone is trying to change culture. The world’s method is to grab authority and force change. Here at Worldview Bridge Year we recognize that method doesn’t work. Instead we are striving to move culture in the right way slowly and steadily by doing the right thing day by day.
Simply put, our mission is to sanctify the students so that they will be salt and light in the culture around them. Our method is education. Education is one of the means by which God sanctifies us, because when our minds are transformed, then our lives are transformed as well.
Culture Cultivation
A culture is not constructed, built, or fabricated, instead it is grown. Think gardening rather than manufacturing. This means that how you speak and act is just as important as what you say and do.
You should always remember that you are modeling the desired culture of Worldview Bridge Year. Focus your efforts on showing the students how to live and act rather than requiring them to do it. When you do need to require behavior, do so with integrity and grace.
